SEDONA, Ariz. – The Omaha women's golf team is in 16th place after the first round of the Red Rocks Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona on Friday.

The Mavericks posted a team score of 318 after the first 18 holes at the Oak Creek Country Club.  Host Northern Arizona leads at 300 followed by Sacramento State and Cal Poly which are tied one shot back.

Sophie Peters continued her fine play from earlier in the week at Grand Canyon.  She fired an even-par round of 72 and is in a tie for second in the 131-player field.  Her score matches the team's low round of the season.

Katie Kesti shot a round of 80 to sit second for the Mavericks and in a tie for 68th overall.  Megan Vetrovsky is right behind after a round of 81 that has her in a tie for 80th.

Makenna Kroeker is tied for 100th after a round of 85 while Alexa Ruwe shot 93 to put her in a tie for 128th.

The final round begins with a shotgun start on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
