Mavericks 16th at Grand Canyon

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Freshman Megan Vetrovsky had the low round of the day for the Omaha women's golf team on the second day of play at the GCU Invitational hosted by Grand Canyon.

Vetrovsky fired a 77 in round two, an 11-stroke improvement over her first-round score, to pace the Mavericks.  She's tied with Makenna Kroeker for third in team scoring with a 36-hole total of 165, a total that puts both golfers in a tie for 91st overall.

Sophie Peters and Katie Kesti each shot 79 on Tuesday.  Peters leads the Mavericks in scoring and is tied for ninth overall with a two-day score of 151.  Kesti is second for UNO and tied for 61st overall with a score of 160.

Kroeker shot 89 in round two to get to a 36-hole total of 165 while Alexa Ruwe shot 88 in the second round and is now tied for 115th with a score of 180.

As a team, the Mavericks are in 16th place with a team score of 640.  California Riverside leads the tournament with a score of 601 while host Grand Canyon is second at 606 and Northern Arizona is third at 612.

The final round is Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. CT at the Wigwam Golf Course.
