Mavs Fall to South Dakota State, 101-66

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Omaha women's basketball team lost to South Dakota State, 101-66, at Frost Arena on Thursday night.  The Mavericks fall to 5-11 (0-4 Summit League) with the loss, while the Jackrabbits improve to 12-6 (3-2 Summit League).

Freshman guard Remy Davenport had a team high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting with six 3-pointers.  Davenport added five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

Senior center Taijhe Kelly finished with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.  Kelly also blocked a game high six shots and grabbed two boards.  Junior Bobbi Beckwith chipped in 10 points, shooting 4-of-8 from the floor with a pair of threes.  Beckwith also added three rebounds and two assists.

Sophomore guard Madi Robson had a season high nine assists.  Robson added two points and a rebound.  Sophomore guard Mikaela Shaw had seven points, five rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot.  Senior guard Felicia Anderson had six points, while junior guard Brianna Bogard added four points and four assists.  Sophomore forward Sami Pawlak finished with two points and four boards.

Omaha shot 25-of-51 from the floor (49.0 percent) and 10-of-19 from distance (52.6 percent).  The Mavs made 6-of-7 shots (85.7 percent) from the charity stripe.  South Dakota State shot 47 percent (39-of-83) from the field and 10-of-22 (45.5 percent) from long range.

SDSU had six players score in double figures.  Mariah Clarin just missed a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds.  Clarin shot 10-of-20 from the field and blocked three shots.  Chynna Stevens had 14 points for the Jackrabbits, while Kerri Young added 13 and Megan Waytashek had 12.

Omaha will start a two-game home stand against IUPUI and North Dakota State on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Thursday, Jan. 22.  Saturday's game is set for a 2 p.m. start, while Thursday's game will start at 7 p.m.  Jon Green will have the radio call of both games on 1180 Zone 2, and fans can also stream the audio on their smartphones by downloading NRG Media's app "1620 The Zone."
