Anderson's Buzzer Beater Lifts Mavs Over Milwaukee, 64-61

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Senior guard Felicia Anderson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer on Sunday, giving the Omaha women's basketball team a 64-61 win against Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center.  With the win, the Mavericks improve to 4-4 (0-0 Summit League), while the Panthers drop to 2-5 (0-0 Horizon League).

Junior guard Brianna Bogard led all scorers with 20 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field and a 13-for-16 effort at the free throw line.  Felicia Anderson added 11points, including three 3-pointers.  Sami Pawlak added eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from the floor.  Three other Mavs scored six points: Lanese Bough, Taijhe Kelly, and Victoria Trowbridge.  Bough added a game high nine rebounds and four assists.  Mikaela Shaw was held to a season-low five points, but grabbed six rebounds.  Madi Robson added two points and had four assists.

Milwaukee was paced by 16 points from Jordyn Swan, who was 6-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.  Jenny Lindner finished with 15 points and three rebounds, and Ashley Green had 10 points with eight rebounds and five assists.

As a team, Omaha outshot the Panthers, 40.4 percent (21-of-52) to 33.9 percent (19-of-56).  The Mavericks shot 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the free throw line, which marked their second straight game of 18 or more free throws made.  Omaha also won the battle on the boards, outrebounding Milwaukee 38-36.

Omaha led a majority of the opening 10 minutes before Milwaukee grabbed the lead.  Anderson nailed a 3-pointer to give Omaha a 9-6 lead at the 16:03 mark.  The Mavs stretched the lead to six points (14-8) with 12:34 remaining in the first half.  Milwaukee went on a 15-6 run to retake the lead (23-20) with under eight minutes left in the half.  The Panthers had stretched the lead to four points with 2:29 remaining before the Mavs Bogard went to work.  Bogard sank four free throws and drained a three pointer in the final minute to give Omaha a 33-30 lead at the half.

Milwaukee tied the game early in the second half, but consecutive buckets by Pawlak gave the lead back to Omaha, 37-33.  The Mavs stretched the lead to as many as eight points four-times in the second half, but Milwaukee kept coming back.  Bogard sank a pair of free throws with 2:08 remaining in the game to make the score 59-51 in favor of Omaha. Milwaukee's Linder and Swan hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut the Mavs lead to three points with 28 seconds to play.  Linder added a lay-up and two free throws to tie the game at 61-61 with seven seconds left on the clock.  Bough brought the ball down court and found Anderson in the corner.  Anderson caught the pass and put up her shot over a Milwaukee defender before the final buzzer sounded.  The shot was true and gave Omaha the win over Milwaukee, 64-61.
