The Omaha men's basketball team (1-0, 0-0 Summit League) embarks on its first road trip of the season this week, traveling to Seattle on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. (CT) at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., and 1180 Zone 2 will carry the radio broadcast live with Gary Sharp calling the action. Scouting the Seattle Redhawks
Seattle enters the week with a record of 0-1 (0-0 WAC) after opening the season with a 62-53 home loss to Texas State last Friday. Second-team All-WAC guard Isiah Umipig, who was 31st nationally in scoring last season, hit seven 3-pointers as he led the Redhawks with 23 points. Deshaun Sunderhaus added 10 points off the bench while shooting 4-for-6 from the field, and Jarell Flora pulled down a game-best six rebounds.

SU is led by sixth-year head coach Cameron Dollar, who has compiled a career record of 62-53 at Seattle.

The all-time series between Omaha and Seattle is tied at 1-1. The two teams last met on Dec. 22, 2013 at Ralston Arena, where the Mavericks earned a 76-69 win. They last squared off at Key Arena on Dec. 29, 2011, when SU defeated UNO, 91-72, in the Elgin Baylor Classic.

Quick Hits
•Eight Mavericks made their career debuts in Sunday's game against Central Arkansas: guards Tim Smallwood, Devin Newsome and Kyler Erickson and forwards Jake White, Randy Reed, Tre'Shawn Thurman, Rylan Murry, and Daniel Meyer. Reed played 17 minutes off the bench and accounted for 10 points and seven rebounds, while Thurman had seven points and two boards over 15 minutes.
•Senior guard CJ Carter and junior guard Devin Patterson each scored 22 points against Central Arkansas. Last season, Omaha had two 20-point scorers on the same night just once, against Fort Wayne on March 1, 2014.

•Senior forward Mike Rostampour has accounted for Omaha's last four double-doubles, including one on Sunday with 13 points and 14 rebounds. UNO is 3-1 in the last two seasons when Rostampour has achieved a double-double.
•After the first weekend of play, Omaha ranks first in the Summit League in points per game, field goals made per game, 3-pointers made per game, 3-point percentage, offensive rebounds, total rebounds,
•The Mavericks were picked sixth in this year's Summit League preseason poll.
•Head coach Derrin Hansen is in his 10th season at the helm of the UNO program, and he carries a career record of 150-121.

Rebounding Rewind
•Omaha outrebounded Central Arkansas on Sunday, 51-25. The 26+ margin was the highest of any Maverick team since the first year of Derrin Hansen's career, when UNO outrebounded York College, 57-26, for a 31+ margin on Dec. 6, 2005.
•UNO's 26 offensive rebounds on Sunday were the most since the Mavs pulled down 30 offensive boards vs. Peru State on Feb. 1, 2012.

•In his Maverick debut, junior forward Jake White pulled down 10 rebounds in the first half alone against UCA, including eight on the offensive end. His 10 first-half boards were the most since senior forward Mike Rostampour had 14 in the first 20 minutes against North Dakota in last year's CIT.

Success in Season Openers
Omaha is 9-1 in season openers during the Derrin Hansen era, including 3-1 in the Division I transitional years. In 2011-12, the Mavericks fell 83-72 at Fort Wayne. They followed up with a 77-64 season-opening win against Northern Illinois at Ralston Arena in 2012-13, then defeated the Huskies again in DeKalb, Ill., in 2013-14. On Sunday, the streak was raised to three straight season-opening victories, as the Mavs topped Central Arkansas, 100-75.

Additionally, UNO is 9-1 in home openers at Sapp Fieldhouse and Ralston Arena during Hansen's tenure.

Home Sweet Home
The 2014-15 season marks UNO's third and final season playing at Ralston Arena, which serves as the home of Maverick men's basketball, Omaha Lancers hockey and Omaha Beef indoor football. The Mavs will play a full Summit League schedule this year with eight conference games, and in total they have 13 games on the slate at Ralston. In 2015-16, Omaha will move its games to the on-campus UNO/Community Arena, which is currently being constructed just south of Aksarben Village between 64th and 67th streets on Center Street.

Last season, Omaha was 11-4 at Ralston Arena. UNO's 11 home wins came at an average margin of 21.4 points, and the Mavs scored an average of 82.3 points per game on their home court while holding their opponents to 69.8.

On Nov. 16, UNO opened its season at Ralston Arena, defeating Central Arkansas by a 100-75 tally.

Mixed Schedule Takes Mavericks Around the Nation
Omaha's 2014-15 schedule includes 29 games, and the team will play in 11 states across the country. The schedule also features games against three 2014 NCAA Tournament teams -- Kansas State, Nebraska and defending Summit League champion North Dakota State. In total, UNO will square off with opponents from seven other conferences.

The Mavericks have never faced two of their opponents: Marquette and Kansas State. They hold a combined all-time record of 182-222 over all teams on the regular-season slate.

No Longer the Newcomers
Omaha is in its fourth and final year as a reclassifying Division I school in 2014-15 and its third as a member of the Summit League. UNO is ineligible for the Summit League Tournament and NCAA/NIT postseason play until 2015-16 but will play a full regular-season conference schedule through last transitional year. It is, however, eligible for the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) in the postseason. Omaha played in the first and second rebounds of the 2014 CIT, and it was the first reclassifying school to receive an at-large bid in the tournament's history.

Up Next
