PEORIA, Ill. - The UNO men's and women's golf teams stayed in position through the final round of the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational at Bradley.
The men finished in fourth place in the five-team field with a score of 927 including a team score of 306 on Saturday. Loyola led from start to finish, winning with a score of 878. Wisconsin-Green Bay was second at 892 followed by host Bradley in third at 901.
In women's action, the Mavericks were 10th in the 10-team field with a score of 1,025. The Mavericks shot 346 in round three. Like Loyola on the men's side, Northern Iowa finished a wire-to-wire win with a score of 908. Southern Illinois was second at 923, and Indiana State was third at 946.
On the men's side, Mitch Johnson posted UNO's low round of the day at 74 for a three-round total of 226. It was UNO's best score of the tournament and put him in eighth place overall.
Michael Shukis was second for UNO overall with a score of 235, putting him in a tie for 17th. He shot 78 on Saturday.
Karl Krieser and Taylor Sidzyik each shot 78 in round three and finished one shot apart. Krieser was third for UNO and 20th overall with a score of 237; Sidzyik finished at 238.
Alex Holtan carded a 76 on Saturday for a three-round score of 240.
On the women's side,
Rebecca Pollock had UNO's low round on Saturday at 81 and led the Mavs in scoring with a 54-hole total of 247, putting her in a tie for 34th.
Elizabeth Havekost was second in scoring for UNO with a score of 252 including a round of 85 on Saturday. That put her in a tie for 40th.
Melyssa Doerr was third for UNO at 258 including the Mavs' second-best round on Saturday at 83. Brooke Thilges was fourth at 268, and
Danielle Kuchar rounded out the scoring at 295.
The men will finish their season on Monday, April 9 at the one-round Midland Invite at Fremont, Neb. The women will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the Augustana Spring Invitational on April 14 and 15.
