SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Melyssa Doerr led the UNO women's golf team to a tie for second after the opening round of the Augustana Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Doerr shot a career-low round of 72, even par of the 5,850-yard layout at Prairie Green Golf Course.  She is second overall in the 69-player field

The Mavericks posted a team score of 309 in round one, putting them in a tie with Minnesota State.  Host Augustana leads with a first-round score of 302.

Rebecca Pollock is second for UNO and in a tie for 11th overall after an opening round of 78.  Elizabeth Havekost is third for the Mavericks, just one shot back.  She is in a tie for 17th.  Brooke Thilges shot 80 on Saturday to sit in a tie for 20th.  The Mavs have just four players in the tournament.

Round two begins on Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
