PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The UNO women's golf team is in 11th place after the first round of play at the Monterey Bay Invitational on Sunday. The event is the first of the spring season for the Mavericks.
UNO had a team score of 347 through the first 18 holes. Co-host Missouri State leads the 14-team event with a score of 303, led by individual leader Hermine Greyling who shot 73 over the 6,018-yard layout at the Del Monte Golf Course. Winthrop University is second at 315, and Houston Baptist is third, two strokes back.
Rebecca Pollock led the Mavericks on day one with a score of 79 that included a 37 on the back nine. She is tied for 15th overall.
Elizabeth Havekost was second for UNO with a score of 88, one stroke ahead of teammate Brooke Thilges.
Melyssa Doerr and
Danielle Kuchar tied for fourth in UNO scoring with scores of 91.
The second round of the three-round event will tee off on Monday at 10 a.m. CT.
