TOPEKA, Kan. – The UNO men's basketball team faced a former MIAA foe on Saturday, falling 78-56 to Washburn at Lee Arena. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 7-14 on the year, while the Ichabods improve to 13-5.

Mitch Albers paced UNO with 15 points, while sophomore center
John Karhoff added another 14. Junior forward
Alex Welhouse pulled down a game-leading six rebounds, and senior center
John Ring added another five boards and a blocked shot.
WU had three players finish with double-figure scoring: Will McNeill (18), Zack Riggins (11) and Martin Mitchell (10). McNeill chipped in a team-leading six rebounds, five steals and three assists for the day.
As a team, Nebraska Omaha shot 34.7 percent from the field and posted just two 3-pointers, both late in the game from Albers and sophomore guard
Isiah Gandy. Washburn was 45.3 percent from the floor and forced 16 Maverick turnovers.
Washburn ran out to a 14-2 lead to open the game, then stretched it to a 21-4 advantage by 13:26. The Mavs never cut it to less than an 11-point margin, and the Ichabods took a 44-25 lead by halftime, helped by 10 points from McNeill.
WU went up by its largest lead of the day at 63-33 with 10 minutes remaining in the second half, and the home squad went on to take the win by a score of 78-56.
UNO returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 24, hosting future Summit League rival Western Illinois. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
