Higgins, Lingenfelter to Compete in Cactus Bowl on

KINGSVILLE, Texas - UNO senior football players Mike Higgins and Harrison Lingenfelter will take part in the 2011 Cactus Bowl this Friday, Jan. 7.

Friday's game kicks off at 7 p.m. from Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas. A live webcast is available for the game, and the Cactus Bowl can also be streamed online. Live stats will be available at the Cactus Bowl website, as well as further information on the event.

The Cactus Bowl is an all-star game featuring NCAA Division II senior football players. Higgins and Lingenfelter will be playing for the Red Storm, as they take on the Blue Devils. Higgins will wear No. 87, while Lingenfelter will wear No. 66. Offensive lineman Dennis Bergland was selected as an alternate player for the game.

Lingenfelter, the Mavs' starting left tackle in all 11 games in 2010, is a two-time All-MIAA First Team selection. The Plainview, Neb., native was also named a Daktronics All-Super Region Four First-Team selection after the 2010 season.

Higgins, the Mavs' top tight end in 2010, is a three-time All-MIAA honoree. Higgins caught a team-best seven touchdowns on his way to earning a spot on the All-MIAA Second Team. A native of Pickrell, Neb., Higgins was a Daktronics Division II Offensive Second-Team All-American after his junior year in 2009.
