UNO Announces 2010 Football Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha will play its first five games of the 2010 football season at home, it was announced today.  The new schedule features seven home games out of eleven total games this fall.

The Mavericks begin the season on Saturday, Sept. 4 against in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney.  They'll follow that game with an evening contest against another non-conference foe, Ouachita Baptist University of Arkadelphia, Ark., on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.

UNO will kick off the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schedule with Northwest Missouri State, the defending Division II national champions, on Saturday, Sept. 18.  The Mavs will then welcome Missouri Southern for its first ever visit to Caniglia Field as a conference opponent on Saturday, Sept. 25.  

The five-game, season-opening home stand concludes with Emporia State in the annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 2.  UNO also will host games against Fort Hays State on Saturday, Oct. 16 and against Missouri Western on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The Mavericks play road games at Washburn on Oct. 9, Central Missouri on Oct. 23, Pittsburg State on Oct. 30 and Truman State on Nov. 13.

UNO was 7-5 last season and posted a record of 6-3 in the MIAA, finishing in a four-way tie for second.
