UNO Football Announces Quarterback Signing

OMAHA, Neb. – UNO head football coach Pat Behrns announced today the signing of incoming freshman Hayden Hawk to a national letter of intent.  He will join the team in the fall of 2010.

Hawk, a quarterback, comes to UNO from Coppell, Texas where he was a two-year starter for Coppell High School and coach Joe McBride.  As a senior, he was the Class 6-5a Offensive Player of the Year and a team captain for the Cowboys.  He led his team to an 11-2 record and the third round of the Texas State 5a playoffs.

Hawk led all 5a senior quarterbacks in Texas with 3,408 passing yards and left Coppell High School with all school passing records.  He ranks 32nd in Texas high school history with 264 completions in a season.  In addition, Hawk was a national AP scholar and an academic all-state pick as a senior.

Hawk has an extended connection to UNO.  His uncle, Tom Boyer, played for the Mavericks from 1977 to 1980.
