Jeff Martin# hit five 3-pointers in the first half to help the Mavericks build a double-digit lead and then the team shot 55 percent in the second half to hand Missouri Western its first home MIAA loss, 90-74 Wednesday night.
Martin hit one more three in the second half to go 6 for 10 from the field, all from long distance. He led all scorers with 20 points. #
Tyler Bullock# went 5 for 7 from the field in the second half and finished with 15 points.
The Mavericks moved to 16-6 overall and all alone in fourth in the MIAA at 9-6. The Griffons fell to 14-9 and fifth in the league at 9-7.

Matt Newman#, making his third start of the year, scored 15 points and tied for the team lead with seven rebounds. #
Josh Lynch# came off the bench to grab seven rebounds, as well.
The Mavericks shot 47 percent in the opening half to build a 43-33 lead at halftime. Both teams shot well in the second time with the Griffons actually edging the Mavs in percentage. They were 59 percent from the field while UNO was 55 percent.
The Mavs ended the night 51 percent overall and 55 percent from 3-point range. Missouri Western was 49 percent overall and 32 percent from long range.
Martin hit his first four 3s in the first six and a half minutes but that only helped UNO build a four-point lead. His fifth of the half came nearly 10 minutes later and it capped a 10-2 UNO run that put the Mavs up by 12, 36-24 with 3:47 left in the half.
Despite the high-scoring numbers from both teams in the second half, the Mavs were able to keep the Griffons out of reach the whole time.
Martin's final 3 of the night capped another run at the 13:40 mark of the second half, this time a 7-0 run for the Mavs to put them up by 23.
An 11-0 run for the Griffons pulled them within 12 with just under 10 minutes remaining. Bullock and #
Torrian Harris# then hit back-to-back baskets with Harris' ending in a three-point play that gave UNO a 17-point lead with 8:20 left.
MWSU cut it to 12 once again but a 3-pointer and then a layup by Newman gave the Mavs a 23-point lead with 2:54 left.
The Griffons won the rebound battle, 35-32 but the Mavs only turned the ball over seven times, just once in the second half, while the Griffons gave it away 15 times.
