Mavs Blank Emporia State 3-0 to Finish Regular Sea

EMPORIA, Kan. – The UNO soccer team finished its regular season at Emporia State Saturday, shutting down the Hornets, 3-0.  The Mavericks got goals from three different players in earning their tenth win of the year.

Junior forward Hilary Horvatic began scoring early, blasting an unassisted shot off the top right cross bar at 2:26. The goal was her sixth of the season, tying her with Danielle Archuleta for the team lead.

Bri Exstrom picked up her fifth goal of the season, knocking in her only shot of the day on a Katie Pickinpaugh pass at 31:57.

Archuleta finished off the Hornets in the 51st minute on an open net shot after ESU goalkeeper Natalie Hoernig came out of the box. Archuleta finished the regular season with 13 points, trailing only Megan Kingston and Horvatic with 15 points.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Fox saved six shots in the shutout before being relieved by Katelyn Tschida in the 58th minute. Fox finished her final regular season with 80 saves and four shutouts in nearly 1,500 minutes of work. She has accumulated a .808 save percentage and a 10-7-1 record as a senior.

The Mavericks close their regular season with a 10-7-1 record overall and a 10-5-1 mark against MIAA competition. The Hornets finish with a 1-11-6 record and 1-10-5 in the MIAA.

UNO finishes the regular season in third place in the MIAA behind Central Missouri and Truman State.
