Dominating Performance Leads To 20-Point Win For U

OMAHA, Neb. - Jeff Martin's fourth straight 3-pointer tied the score at 28-28 with 3:12 remaining in the first half and the Mavericks never looked back after that. Nebraska-Omaha dominated the second half to lead to a 82-62 win over Missouri Western Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse.

Nebraska-Omaha improved to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the MIAA while the Griffons dropped to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Martin ended up 6-for-11 from the field, all from long distance, to lead UNO with 20 points. Dion Curry was 6-for-7 from the field for 15 points and Tyler Bullock added 11. Aaron Terry came off the bench and had two huge slam dunks to help him to a season-high eight points. He was 4-for-4 from the field.

Andrew Bridger had another double-figure assist night with a season-high 13 to go along with nine points and six steals.

The lead changed hands four times in the first half. Nebraska-Omaha led by nine early, 16-7 at the 15:04 mark. Four minutes later the Griffons tied it at 18-18 on a 9-2 run. They gained their first lead of the night near the five-minute mark of the first half and they pushed it to three points at the 3:12 mark.

Martin then hit his fourth straight 3 of the day to tied the score and begin a 13-0 run that gave UNO a 38-28 halftime lead.

The Griffons got within six points early in the second half but UNO regained control and led by 17 at the 9:24 mark after a 10-2 run.

Terry's Lay-up at 6:26 made the score 74-54, UNO and then Martin's 3 at the five-minute mark made it a game-high 25-point lead for UNO.

The Mavericks shot exactly 50 percent on the night, reaching that mark for the ninth time this year and the fourth in the last five games. They were 40 percent from 3-point range and 79 percent from the free throw line.

The Griffons were 49 percent from the field but just 12 percent from long distance and 35 percent from the free throw line. Marcus Rhodes led MWSU with 14 points.
