Final Results

OMAHA, Neb. – The top-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestling team captured nine-of-ten matches Thursday evening, storming past eleventh-ranked St. Cloud State, 37-6 at the Sapp Fieldhouse.

The Mavericks won the first five matches, collecting three technical falls, a major decision and a pin in the process. The win was the fifth victory of the season for the Mavs, and their second highest point total of the year. UNO won four dual meets en route to the NWCA National Dual championship earlier this month.

Matt Rein got things rolling for the Mavericks at 125 pounds, scoring a 16-1 technical fall over SCSU's Pat LeVasseur, followed by 133-pound No. 1 Cody Garcia's pin of No. 8 Josh Williams at the 5:36 mark of the match.

No. 4-ranked Mario Morgan (141) then scored a 12-3 major decision against Gabe Suarez, while Esai Dominguez, the fourth-ranked wrestler at 149, earned a 19-4 technical fall victory over Jacob Horn, giving UNO a commanding 20-0 lead.

Todd Meneely, the top-ranked wrestler at 157 pounds, made it five-straight wins for UNO with a 26-11 technical fall victory over SCSU's Chad Kubasch. Meneely recorded 13 takedowns in the match, improving to 14-0 this season.

SCSU's Tad Merritt, the eighth-ranked wrestler at 165 pounds, gave the Huskies their lone win, when he pinned No. 1 Aaron Denson in 5:31.

At 174, No. 1 Ross Taplin earned a hard-fought 5-4 decision over Derek Skala. With the win, Taplin improves to 28-6. The 184-pound match pitted SCSU's Brad Padgett, ranked No. 3, against UNO's Brent Pankoke. Pankoke tallied two near falls, a takedown and a reversal en route to a 7-2 decision.

At 197 pounds, No. 4 Jacob Marrs improved to 20-6 on the year with a 10-7 decision against Luke Munkelwitz. In the final bout, fourth-ranked Tony Lewis defeated Bobby Ross, 6-1, giving the Mavericks  a 37-6 victory.

UNO will be back in action tomorrow night when they host the top-ranked school in NCAA Division III, Augsburg College. The dual will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
