The University of Nebraska-Omaha men's basketball team kicked off the new year with a 78-57 nonconference win over Doane College Friday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The No. 18-ranked Mavericks improve to 12-1 with their fifth win in a row, while the Tigers fall to 6-8.

UNO stayed settled in for the second half, shooting 56.5 percent, and never letting the lead fall back into single digits.
