WASECA, Minn. --
Lindsay Newton shot a second-round 80 Sunday to finish third and lead the Mavericks to a third-place team finish in the MSU Invitational at Lakeside Counry Club. North Dakota edged UNO by four shots for the team title in the final regular season tournament for the Mavericks.
UNO's next assignment will be to defend its title in the NCAA II North Regional tournament May 1-2 in Vermillion, S.D.
Newton finished at 158, four shots behind individual champion Morgan Proshek of Winona State.
UNO followed its first round 325 with a 333 Sunday in the 36-hole event, one shot behind host Minnesota State.
