Abdul Mills, who scored 25 and 23 points in Maverick wins last week, has been named the North Central Conference player of the week. Mills, a senior guard from Brooklyn, N.Y., helped lead wins over Wayne State and Missouri Western.
Mills shot 57.1 percent from the field while hitting 9 of 16 three-point shots over the two games. He scored 25 points in UNO's 81-73 win over Wayne (Neb.) State on Dec. 7 and then poured in 23 in a win by the same score over Missouri Western Saturday afternoon. He also had three steals and six assists in the two games.
Mills is now leading the team in scoring at 12.8 per game and leads the team in three-point shooting with 27-for-58 (.466).
The No. 21 Mavericks, now 9-1, will play in the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., Saturday against Tarleton State and Sunday against No. 2 ranked Rollins.
