Miller Grabbed By Jaguars In Sixth Round

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Former UNO quarterback Zach Miller will have an opportunity to play pro football after the Jacksonville Jaquars chose him in the sixth round of the National Football League draft today at Radio City Music Hall.  Miller was projected to go anywhere from the fifth to the seventh rounds.  He was the 180th selection in the draft.

Miller is projected to be a tight end as a pro.  He was worked out by Jacksonville assistant head coach Mike Tice during UNO's pro day in mid-March.  Miller played the position at the Valero Cactus Bowl, a Division II all-star game held in Texas each January.  In that game, he caught five passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.  He also ran the ball three times for ten yards.

During his senior season at UNO, the native of Wahoo, Neb. threw for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns.  He was also the Mavericks' second leading rusher, running for 1,061 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Miller was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association offensive player of the week three times and was an All-MIAA second team selection.
