Sarah Woelfel

Sarah Woelfel joined the Omaha athletic training staff in July of 2023 as a PhD-Sports Science Fellow/ Athletic Trainer, primarily working with women’s soccer and swim & dive.

Prior to joining the Mavericks, Woelfel served two years as a certified athletic trainer at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, primarily working with men’s soccer, women’s basketball, and track and field.

An Omaha native, Woelfel earned her bachelor of science degree in exercise science in 2018 from UNO. Woelfel then completed her master of arts degree in athletic training in 2021 from UNO. Woelfel’s first year of college was at the United States Military Academy at West Point where she trained in the Army and played NCAA Division 1 soccer. Woelfel received an honorable discharge from the Army. Woelfel is now pursuing her PhD in Biomechanics and Kinesiology at UNO.

Woelfel is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) and is a dual-licensed athletic trainer in both Iowa and Nebraska.

Woelfel currently resides in Omaha.
