Omaha women's basketball announces the addition of La'Karis Salter as an assistant coach.  La'Karis played college basketball at Ole Miss before joining the college coaching ranks, with stops at University of Texas Permian Basin, University of Olivet and most recently Ferris State University where she was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

The former NCAA Division I star will be responsible for post player development, scouting and recruiting.

"I am excited to welcome La’Karis to Omaha," Mavericks head coach Carrie Banks said. "She is coming off a historic run at Ferris State where she was instrumental in the development of their post players.  She’s got great energy and passion for the game and I am looking forward to the impact it will have on our program."

Salter most recently served as an assistant coach for two seasons for a Ferris State University team that played in the NCAA DII Tournament Semi-finals, a school record 26-6 season and a #3 ranking in the final national poll.

Prior to FSU she was an assistant at the University of Olivet for the 2021-22 season. She began her coaching career on the staff at the University of Texas-Permian Basin for the 2021-2022 season.

As a player, Salter was ranked as the nation's #89 recruit coming out of high school by ESPN and HoopGurlz.

During her collegiate career, Salter saw action as a student-athlete at three different institutions on the NCAA Division I level in Mississippi State, Jacksonville University and Ole Miss.
