Josh Englebretson became the Mavericks’ athletic trainer in August of 2014 after spending eight years at Castleton State (Vt.), the last two as the head athletic trainer.
While at Castleton, Englebretson worked alongside current UNO assistant coach Alex Todd with the Castleton State hockey team. He also served as the primary trainer for other sports including football, volleyball and baseball.
Englebretson, a native of Owen, Wis., was a graduate assistant at Northern Illinois for two years while earning his master’s degree in sports management. While there, he also was the head athletic trainer and assistant director of athletics for Genoa-Kingston High School.
Englebretson earned his bachellor’s degree in athletic training from Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2004.
