Jake Decker MS, LAT, ATC

Decker joined the Mavericks’ athletic training staff in July 2023 as a Doctoral Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. Previously, he spent the past 7 years as an assistant athletic trainer at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA.

While at Central Washington, Decker with the women’s volleyball and softball teams for the Wildcats. In addition, he was responsible for supervising graduate assistant athletic trainers covering baseball and men’s rugby. Prior to holding his position as an assistant athletic trainer, Decker received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science at CWU while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the men’s and women’s rugby teams at CWU. While working with men’s rugby, Decker worked with capped USA Eagles’ Aladdin Schirmer and Vili Toluta’u and Fijiana Asinate Serevi.

Decker received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. While at Whitworth, Decker worked with athletes from 20 NCAA Division III sports. From Fall 2013 through Spring 2014, he was the primary athletic training student for men’s soccer. In the Spring of 2013, he worked with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, including the New York Islanders’ 2011 5th round pick Brenden Kichton.

The Spokane, WA native currently holds a CPR Instructor Certification fomr the American Heart Association. He also served as the Treasurer of the Washington State Athletic Trainers’ Association from March 2019 through March 2023. He currently resides in Omaha.
