Chad Miller joined Omaha as an Assistant Coach in 2025. Prior to becoming a Maverick, Miller served as Midland University’s head baseball coach from 2014-2023.

During his tenure, Miller led the Warriors to a regular-season Great Plains Athletics Conference (GPAC) Championship in 2016 and a GPAC Tournament Championship in 2017. Miller’s teams made it to the GPAC Tournament Championship Game in five seasons while he was at the helm. Miller was also named the GPAC Coach of the Year following the 2016 season and his teams have qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament four times during his Midland tenure.

Prior to coming to Midland, Miller spent nine seasons (2006-14) as the head coach at Viterbo University, where he is currently the all-time coaching wins leader with 214. Miller’s tenure culminated in the V-Hawks winning the Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) regular season and the MCC Tournament for the first time in school history in 2014, earning the V-Hawks the program’s first-ever berth in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Miller was named the MCC Baseball Coach of the Year following the historic 2014 campaign.

Along with coaching the V-Hawks, Miller spent three years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the prestigious Cape Cod Summer League. With Miller’s help, the Harbor Hawks rose to the No. 1 ranking in national summer ball polls and claimed the Cape Cod Western Division Championship in 2015. With Hyannis, Miller had the opportunity to help coach 14 players who went on to play in Major League Baseball.

Miller also has experience in talent evaluation at the highest levels as he spent time as an Associate Professional Baseball Scout for Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals. While there he identified and evaluated professional baseball prospects to play at the major league level.

Prior to beginning his head coaching career at Viterbo, Miller helped lead three different teams in the NorthwoodsSummer Collegiate League to their first playoff berths in respective franchise histories. Their crowning achievement was in 2005 when he led the Thunder Bay Border Cats to the league championship and was named the Northwoods League Field Manager of the Year.

Miller, earned a Master’s of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2003. He graduated from Viterbo University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Business Administration double major in Marketing and Management.  He also received an Associates Degree from Des Moines Area Community College and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida where he spent 2 years as a member of the Gator baseball team.

In 2014, Miller was inducted into the Sparta, WI High School Hall of Fame for his accolades and accomplishments in high school as a student-athlete.

In 2020, he was inducted into the Viterbo University Wall of Fame for his accomplishments as a student-athlete and coach at the university.

Miller also founded the Fremont Moo Summer Collegiate franchise in 2019.  The Moo won two league championships in 2020 and 2023.  

Miller is married to Jessica Miller and together they have three children, Callen, Braelyn, and Drake. His family resides in Fremont.
