CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The No. 1 UNO wrestling team advanced to the finals of the NWCA National Duals on Sunday, thanks to a last-match overtime win by #Taylor Escamilla# at 285 pounds that gave UNO a 19-16 win over No. 5 Newberry in the semifinals at the UNI Dome.

With the score tied 16-16 entering the dual's final match, Escamilla provided the win the Mavs needed to move on. Now, UNO will have a chance to win its third straight NWCA National Duals against third-seeded Augustana at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the UNI Dome. Augustana defeated St. Cloud State in their semifinal dual, 18-15.

With his match against Jake Elkins tied 1-1 in the second overtime period, Escamilla recorded an escape to earn the sudden-death win.

The day started off with the Mavs falling behind 7-0. #Cody Tyler# was defeated by John McDonald in a major decision, 16-8, then #Sim Bribieseca# lost to William Young, 6-2, at 133 pounds.

The Mavs rallied then at 141, 149 and 157 pounds, as they have in every dual this weekend. #Mario Morgan# shut out his opponent, Deral Brown, 2-0. #Esai Dominguez# then improved to 24-1 on the year with a 24-10 major decision over Dale DeBacco. #George Ivanov# continued his string of wins with a 7-1 decision over Sean Byrnes, giving UNO a 10-9 lead in the dual.

After #Nathan Sigman# was pinned by Braden Carter 2:53 into their match, #Ryan Pankoke# won a key 4-2 decision over Josh Whitelock to tie the dual at 13-all.

At 184 pounds, #Aaron Denson# suffered his first loss of the weekend, dropping a 3-1 decision to Bryant Blanton. At that point, the Mavs trailed 16-13 with two matches to go.

#Matt Baker# stepped up in a big way for the Mavs, earning his third win of the weekend in a 5-1 decision over John Reed that tied the dual at 16-16, setting up the winner-take-all showdown between Escamilla and Elkins.
