CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – After dropping the first match at 125 pounds, the top-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestling team reeled off eight-straight victories en route to a 31-7 win over ninth-ranked Mercyhurst in the quarterfinals of the NWCA National Duals on Saturday at the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.

The Mavericks will face No. 4 Minnesota State, Mankato at 11a.m. on Sunday in the tournament's semifinals.  It marked the seventh-straight season that UNO has reached the National Duals' semifinals.

Key performances included No. 3-ranked #Aaron Denson# pulling off a big upset over second-ranked Josh Shields, 5-2, at 165 pounds. Second ranked #Cody Garcia# won by technical fall (17-1) over fifth-ranked Michael Baxter. Top-ranked #Ross Taplin# rebounded from a loss earlier in the day by pinning Mercyhurst's Pat Carter in 2:10.
