2 TDs, 2 FGs Highlight Spring Game
Robert Wesley ran for 72 yards and a touchdown and Greg Wunderlich passed for 107 yards and a score as the Mavericks wound up their spring practice session Saturday afternoon at Caniglia Field.
Redshirt freshman Greg Zuerlein booted field goals of 22 and 26 yards in the opening quarter.
Senior wide receiver Casey Hausman set up the first touchdown when he returned a kickoff 71 yards to the 27-yard line. After a rush for no gain, Wunderlich connected with John Higgins inside the 10. The redshirt freshman tight end fought off a tackle to score.
Wesley finished off a 40-yard drive with a one-yard run seconds before the end of the first half.
Starting quarterback Zach Miller, a senior from Wahoo, Neb., comnpleted 8 of 13 passes for 70 yards and redshirt freshman Brian Gralheer, from Wisner, Neb., was 7-for-11 for 91 yards. Wunderlich, a sophomore from Naperville, Ill., completed 8 of 14 throws.
Junior wide receiver Troy Kush, Gretna, Neb., caught four passes for 43 yards and Hausman three for 44 yards.
