Former All-American Conor Riley Joins Mav Staff

Conor Riley, who earned All-American honors as an offensive lineman for the Mavericks in 2002, has joined the University of Nebraska at Omaha football staff of head coach Pat Behrns as a full-time offensive assistant coach.

Riley, who spent the past year as the offensive line coach at Concordia University-St. Paul, replaces Lance Leipold, now the head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, on the staff. Riley is a 2003 UNO graduate who spent three seasons as a student assistant and graduate assistant coach for the Mavericks, from 2003-05.

"We're very fortunate to be able to bring Conor back to our staff," Behrns said. "He is an outstanding young coach who brings intensity and a winning attitude to every practice and game."

Riley is a native Omahan who had a standout high school career at Omaha Creighton Prep. He began his college playing career at the U.S. Air Force Academy, then transferred to Kansas State before returning to Omaha. He redshirted in 1999, then was named the North Central Conference's outstanding offensive lineman twice in his three years as a Mav. He was a second-team All-American in 2001 and earned first-team honors by the American Football Coaches Association and Daktronics as a senior in 2002.
