2 Mavs Sign with NFL Teams
Two Maverick seniors from 2005 have signed free agent contracts with National Football League teams. Wide receiver Chris Denney signed with the Buffalo Bills and offensive lineman Scot Jorgensen with the Washington Redskins.
Denney, from Norfolk, Neb., caught 38 passes for 783 yards and eight touchdowns last season and was the North Central Conference's most valuable wide receiver for two straight years. The 6-3, 219-pound Denney finished his career with 123 catches for 2,445 yards, No. 3 on the all-time list at UNO, and 21 touchdowns.
Jorgensen earned all-NCC honors and played in the Cactus Bowl. The 6-4, 287-pound native of Minden, Neb., was a four-year starter for UNO.
