Mavs Host 2 Top 10 Opponents on the Mat

The Mavericks will return to Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse to host No. 4 ranked Central Oklahoma on Friday, Feb. 4 and No. 3 ranked Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Feb. 5. Both matches will begin at 7:05 p.m. Both matches will be televised live on state-wide cable on NETV2, Channel 16 for Omaha-area Cox subscribers.

The Mavericks bring a 5-1 dual mark and a No. 1 NCAA II ranking into the weekend.

The Series
Central Oklahoma holds an 11-6 lead in the all-time series with the Mavericks. The Bronchos scored a 22-12 dual meet win last year. The Mavs lead Nebraska-Kearney 18-2, including a 30-6 win over the Lopers on Jan. 23 in the semifinals of the National Dual Meet Tournament. UNO downed UNK 26-15 in last year's regular season meeting.

The Coach
Mike Denney is in his 26th season as the Maverick head coach. The Dakota Wesleyan graduate has a 248-100-5 career mark. He has twice been named the NCAA II National Coach of the Year and led the 1991 and the 2004 Mavericks to NCAA II national championships.

Looking Ahead
The Mavericks will hit the road to wrestle North Central Conference rivals St. Cloud State Feb. 11 and Minnesota State, Mankato Feb. 12. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. UNO returns home to host Augustana on Friday, Feb. 18 at Sapp Fielhdouse at 7 p.m.
