Augsburg College won the battle of national team champions Friday night with a 26-10 decision over the Mavericks in front of 850 fans at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. The Auggies, the NCAA Division III champs, won seven of the 10 matches over the NCAA II champion Mavericks.

The Mavericks fell to 4-1, while Augsburg improved to 11-1 on the year.

Eli Dominguez, at 141, and Shane Unger at 149 posted back-to-back wins after Augsburg won twice to square the match at 6-6. But the Auggies came back to win the next five matches, starting with Marcus LeVesseur's 109th straight win, a 6-1 decision over Patrick Allibone at 157.

Casey Flaherty's 3-1 overtime decision over UNO's Steve Conlin gave Augsburg a 15-6 lead and the Auggies put it away with a technical fall by Brad Tupa at 184 and a pin at 197 by Justin Sorensen.

Two-time national champ Les Sigman won his 13th straight heavyweight match and improved to 39-3 with a 10-2 decision over Mark Simmonds to end the match.
