Kammrad, Taiwo Onatolu, Sutko Honored
Justin Kammrad, who set several UNO records while leading NCAA II in rushing, was the Brad Beckman award winner as the most valuable offensive player at the Mavericks' football awards banquet Friday night at Milo Bail Student Center. Linebacker Taiwo Onatolu won the Glen Hepburn trophy as the most valuable defensive player and Nick Sutko the Tom Hutchison Award as the most enthusiastic player.
A crowd of about 300 attended the event honoring the 8-3 Mavericks who finished second in the North Central Conference.
The most outstanding players at their individual positions included Kammrad as offensive back; Ryan Krause, receiver; Gabe Meints, offensive lineman; Ryan Stubbendeck, defensive lineman; Taiwo Onatolu at linebacker; Brand Pinderhughes at defensive back; Chris Moore as a special teams player and Kenny Onatolu as newcomer of the year.
