OMAHA, Neb. (Sept. 10, 2025) – Omaha Athletics raised a record-breaking $6.13 million over the course of the 2024-25 academic year.
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, 2,661 donors made a gift through the University of Nebraska Foundation to support the Mavericks, marking an all-time high for the number of individual supporters, surpassing last year's total. Over the past four fiscal years, the annual donor base for the department has grown by more than 170 percent.
"We are grateful for the generous support of our external stakeholders and our community," said Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell. "Our recent comprehensive successes are not happening by accident. We have incredible personnel supported by an incredible fan base, which positions us for continued success as we transition into a new era of college athletics."
The Mavericks enter 2025-26 with record momentum, capturing four Summit League championships last year, with men's basketball and softball each winning the regular-season and tournament crowns. Omaha men's basketball advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time in the program's Division I era and softball advanced to its third-straight NCAA tournament. Softball has won at least one game in each of the program's three NCAA Championship berths. Men's ice hockey ranked sixth in Division I in attendance during the 2024-25 season.
Corporate sponsorships through Omaha Sports Properties also reached record highs in FY25 with 13 new partners adding to a record 74 corporate sponsors of Omaha Athletics to account for a new high in total revenue.
Omaha Athletics has served as a beacon for the institution on the national stage with the Mavericks capturing more than 80 million views through traditional media resulting in more than $10 million in advertising value. The department and its sport programs have received placement on Barstool Sports, CBS Sports and broadcast mediums, ESPN platforms, Sports Business Journal and The Athletic/New York Times, among others, in addition to key media mentions in the Omaha metro in the Omaha World-Herald and on KETV, KMTV, WOWT, 1620 the Zone, KFAB and Hurrdat Sports.
Royalties received for merchandise and branded apparel were the second-highest of all time for UNO and Omaha Athletics. More than 40,000 total units were licensed in FY25.
Omaha teams participated in seven team (baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's ice hockey, women's soccer, softball, volleyball) conference tournaments last year, continuing Omaha's unprecedented success since FY21 which has seen the Mavericks compete in 16 conference championship games, capturing 11 conference titles en route to eight NCAA tournament appearances.
In the classroom, student-athletes have maintained a 3.45-plus cumulative GPA across three consecutive academic years and achieved a 95 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) with a 993 Academic Progress Rate (APR). Last academic year, the Mavericks completed 4,579 hours of community service, ranking eighth nationally among all Division I programs. Eight teams finished in the top 10 of their sport in community engagement according to the annual Helper Helper report.
Attendees of Baxter Arena events will notice a whole-new gameday experience with a Daktronics continuous centerhung display measuring 16.5 feet high by 85 feet around. Maverick fans will enjoy new interactive elements and a one-of-a-kind in-game look. In addition to the centerhung, fans will experience a new ribbon display along the upper bowl and two new video walls, one at the main entrance and a second at the north entrance of Baxter Arena.
