Volleyball Falls to Wyoming on Day 2 of Omaha Invite

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha volleyball (0-2, 0-0 Summit League) was unable to hold on Saturday afternoon as the Mavericks fell to Wyoming (2-0, 0-0 Mountain West) in three sets on day two of the Omaha Invite presented by Sarpy County Tourism. In the first match of the day, (RV) Houston defeated (RV) Washington State, 3-1.

Kali Jurgensmeier boasted eight kills on the day, while Erica Fava tied the Cowgirls' Sierra Grizzle with 11 kills in the three-set match.

Omaha fell 25-23 in the opening set and 25-18 in the second. Sparks were flying in the third frame as Omaha went toe-to-toe with Wyoming with the Mavericks surviving five set points, punctuated by Amanda Hardt and Ivy Leuck connecting for a kill to even the score at 25 and more importantly, keeping Omaha in the hunt.

After a series of attack errors, Wyoming held-on to best the Mavericks 31-29 to close the book on their second win of the young season.

Wyoming hit .242 in the match with 39 kills and 15 errors. The Mavs recorded 33 kills, hitting at a .107 clip. Shayla McCormick had finished the day with four aces while Fava and Julia Owens posted a pair of service aces each.
