OMAHA, Neb.- The Mavericks remain unbeaten on their home pitch, forging a 1-1 tie against Summit League foe Kansas City in men's soccer.
Omaha (6-2-3, 1-1-1) improved to 4-0-3 at home this season, with a Wednesday night (7:00 p.m. CT) home match against non-conference rival Creighton up next.
Omaha's Mathis Pilon St-Louis broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 65th minute, his first try blocked free and returned to him on an assist by Wawa Palga. It was Pilon St-Louis' third goal of the year and Palga's second assist. It was Pilon St-Louis' third career goal against Kansas City.
Kansas City came in with the Summit League's highest scoring offense, but was limited to a goal by Jeremy Francou (2), assisted by Julien Le Bourdoulous 80:57 into the match.
The Mavericks and Roos both had significant chances in the second half. Omaha equaled a season high with 17 shots, 12 coming after intermission; Kansas City had 18 shots. Mavericks goalkeeper Nathanael Sallah equaled a season-high with seven saves.
After hosting Creighton Wednesday night in the Dodge Street Derby, the Mavericks have a one week break before resuming the Summit League slate at one of the nation's top ranked teams Denver on October 16. They return home to face Oral Roberts on October 19. All league matches are televised on the Summit League Network.
