The Omaha Mavericks Women's Tennis team rattled off their second win of the weekend yesterday with a resilient 4-3 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies.
"Great way to wrap up a successful weekend. We started this match off really strong. Played some great doubles and asserted ourselves. We then got off to quick starts in singles. We got up 3-0, then momentum took a swing towards UST," Omaha head coach
Adam Summitt said. "We lost those three matches all around the same time. Zoe came in clutch today. She had chances in the second set to put the match away, unfortunately didn't get it. But also she didn't let it affect her third set. Hope to play like this next week."
The doubles pairings of
Zoe Adkins/
Addison Miller and
Keegan VanPelt/
Brooke Covington registered a pair of 6-3 victories to secure the doubles point for Omaha. In singles, Adkins VanPelt and
Ines Absisan took care of business to help get Omaha to the magic number of four, needed to win match. Absisan and VanPelt while Adkins won at No. 2 singles in a deciding three-set thriller.
The Mavericks will battle South Dakota this Sunday afternoon in their regular season finale. The match will be played outside at Millard North High School here in Omaha.
