OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha volleyball will kick off Summit League action this week with a pair of home matches at Baxter Arena. The Mavericks host St. Thomas on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. and Western Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. Omaha is coming off a 1-1 weekend in the MH Hospitality Omaha Challenge. The Mavericks picked up their final non-conference win vs. Weber State.

- This marks the first time in the division I era that Omaha has swept the weekly awards.
- Sami Clarkson averages 9.93 assists per set to rank third in the league. She has 397 total asists through the first ten matches.
Scouting St. Thomas
This marks the first season for the Tommies in division I play and the Summit League. They're off to a 1-9 start. St. Thomas picked up its first division I win vs. Incarnate Word. The Tommies won in five sets and were led by Lauren Galvin who tallied 17 kills. The Tommies earned set wins vs. Green Bay, Eastern Washington, and Idaho State. Galvin leads the Tommies with 105 kills this season. Grace Anetipa and Eva Fitzgerald split time at setter with 128 and 105 assists, respectively.

Scouting Western Illinois
The Leathernecks are 1-10 to start the 2021 campaign. WIU took a 3-2 lead vs. Eastern Kentucky at the EKU Tournament. Three players recorded double-figure kills led by Kennedy Davis who tallied 20 for WIU. The Leathernecks are on a three-game skid after falling to New Mexico State, Valpo, and SIUE. Four players have over 100 kills for WIU on the year. Mariah Mitchell has a team-leading 165. Cassie Hunt has 386 of the team's 615 assists, while Gaby DePersio has a team-high 215 digs.

Omaha leads the series 12-4. The Mavericks took a 3-1 and 3-0 win vs. the Leathernecks last season.
