Mavericks Host Weber State, K-State For Home Opening Weekend

OMAHA, Neb. - After eight matches on the road, Omaha volleyball returns to Baxter Arena for its home opening weekend. The Maverick will host Weber State and Kansas State the MH Hospitality Omaha Challenge. Omaha hosts Weber State on Thursday, Sept. 16 and Kansas State on Saturday, Sept. 18.

Friday, Sept. 17 - Weber State vs. Kansas State 1 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 18 - Omaha vs. Kansas State 1 p.m.

  • The Mavericks enter the weekend 2-6 overall. They have wins vs. Drake and Georgia. Omaha downed Drake 3-0 in the season opening tournament, and upset Georgia 3-1 at the Ameritas Players Challenge in Lincoln.

  • Sami Clarkson leads the Mavericks with 328 assists. She is second in the league with 10.25 assists per set.

Scouting Weber State
The Wildcats are 5-3 to open 2021 action. Weber State swept its opening weekend with wins over Seton Hall, North Dakota, and Utah State. They picked up two more wins vs. Dixie State and Utah Valley. The Wildcats suffered losses to BYU, Michigan State, and Utah. The Wildcat offense is led by Rylin Adams who has 124 kills for an average of 4.0 per set. Dani Nay leads the team with 23 service aces, and Ashlyn Power has 290 of the team's 360 assists.

Series History
This marks the first ever meeting between the programs.

Scouting Kansas State
The Wildcats are 7-2 heading into this weekend. Their only losses were to ranked opponents in No. 5 Nebraska and No. 21 Pepperdine. K-State is currently on a five-game win streak after downing San Diego State, Ohio, Loyola Chicago, Fresno State, and Missouri. Aliyah Carter leads the Wildcats with 138 kills. Right behind her is Haley Warner with 104. Teena Adams-Kaonohi has 371 of K-State's 445 assists. Three players have double-figure aces on the year. Loren Hinkle leads with 15, while Mackenzie Morris and Kadye Fernholz have 14 and 10, respectively.

Series History
Kansas State leads the all-time series 12-6. The Wildcats won the last meeting in 2019, 3-2. Limback led the Mavericks with 14 kills.
