GREENSBORO, N.C. – Omaha opens the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament at No. 23 UNC-Greensboro on Thursday, April 29, at 5 p.m. CT.
The Mavericks posted a 6-2-1 record in the regular season and were chosen to represent the Summit League after regular season champion Denver was deemed ineligible due to COVIC-19 protocols. UNCG posted a 9-2-2 record and beat Belmont in the Southern Conference Championship to earn the bid. This match marks the second time Omaha will appear in the NCAA Tournament and the first time since the 2017 season.

Quick Kicks
- On Thursday, it will be 26 days since the Mavericks last took the field. They finished off a two-game series at Oral Roberts on April 3, winning 2-1 in overtime. The Mavericks went 1-0-1 against the Golden Eagles this season.
- In game one, the teams played to a 1-1 draw. Hugo Kametani knotted the game to force overtime. It was the first and only draw for the Mavericks on the year.
- In game two, the teams saw overtime for the second straight game. Junior Noutoua scored in the 85th minute, and Hugo Kametani scored in overtime to win it.
- The Mavericks brought home two major Summit League awards last week. Hugo Kametani was named the Summit League Newcomer of the year while Fitzroy Cummings collected Defensive Player of the Year honors.
- Kametani, Cummings, Stevie Siy and Nil Ayats earned All-Summit First Team honors. Kenji Mboma Dem got a Second Team nod. Kametani, Cummings, Mboma Dem and Ed Port also were named to the Summit All-Newcomer Team.
Scouting the UNC-Greensboro Spartans
The Spartans finished the regular season 9-2-2 (3-2-1) and earned the No. 2 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament. In the semifinals, UNCG downed the No. 3 Eastern Tennessee squad, 2-1, to advance to the championship. The Spartans then faced No. 4 Belmont and captured the title with a 1-0 win over the Bruins. UNCG is 6-1-1 on its home turf this season where portions of the first and second rounds will be hosted.
The Spartans enter the tournament ranked 23rd in Top Drawer Soccer's Top-25 and 28th in the College Soccer News final regular season polls.
Spartans to Watch
- Theo Collomb leads the Spartans with 17 points on the year, which includes seven goals and three assists. He's totaled 43 shots with 23 on goal. Collomb was named Co-Freshman of the Year for the Southern Conference and also picked up First Team honors.
- Mani Austmann adds 15 points for the Spartans this season. He's recorded six goals, three assists, 32 shots, and 17 shots on goal. He leads the team with three game-winners on the year. He picked up Second Team all-conference honors.
- In goal, Niclas Wild has made 10 starts between the pipes and logged 945:42 minutes. He's posted a .76 GAA and a .778 save percentage on the season. Wild has allowed only eight goals. He has four shutouts and is 7-1-2 on the year.
