WEST FARGO, N.D. - After day two at the Summit League Championships, the Mavericks continue to sit in fourth place in the team standings with 341 points. Omaha tallied nine top-10 finishes Friday with
Caroline Gardner earning a medal in the 100-yard breaststroke.
"Today was a better day for our program," said head coach
Todd Samland. " We had a person make finals in four of the five individual events. We also had a couple lifetime best swims from
Sydney Schneider,
Alyssa Parsons, and
Annie Leinart. We made some good moves today, and I feel we will make good moves again tomorrow."
In the first event of the evening,
Sydney Schneider,
Caroline Gardner,
Abigail Mitchell, and
Jillian Altmaier posted a time of 1:46.80 in the 200-medley relay to place fifth for Omaha.
Mallory Dickey finished fourth for the Mavericks in the 400-IM with a time of 4:31.96, while
Maddie Mather,
Riana Scott,
Abbey Mitchell and
Carina Monroe all finished in the top-16.
In the 100-breaststroke,
Caroline Gardner medaled with a time of 1:03.46. She took the bronze in the event, while teammates
Annie Leinart and
Alyssa Parsons posted lifetime bests in the event. Leinart swam a 1:04.97 placing fourth, and Parsons swam a 1:05.94 for an eighth-place finish.
Sydney Schneider then swam a lifetime best in the 100-backstroke with a time of 58.73 for a seventh-place finish.
In the 3-meter dive,
Darby Drake and
Kady Eller placed in the top-10. Drake posted a score of 232.70 to finish sixth, while Eller's score of 227.05 was good enough for seventh.
In the final event of the day, Leinart, Hagemann, Scott, and
Morgan Baker swam a 7:47.71 800-free relay for a fourth-place finish for Omaha.
The Mavericks will wrap up championship action tomorrow. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. The events of the final day are the 100-IM, 1,650 free, 200-back, 100-free, 200-breast, 200-fly, and 400-free relay. Streaming and live stat links can be found at OMavs.com.
