Omaha's final top-10 finish of the night came in the 400-medley relay. The team of
Abigail Mitchell, Gardner, Baker, and Hagemann swam a time of 3:56.68 to place fifth.
"On our first day, we had some good performances," said head coach
Todd Samland. "It was nice to see three people make it back in the 500-Free with Corina getting a lifetime best swim. We had two good fly swims, but not quite good enough to make it back to swim in finals. We had a strong showing in the 200-IM with all three people getting second swims of which two were in the championship heat.
Our sprints were strong, but I see brighter swims for us in te future. Our diving was our best event with some strong dives in prelims from Darby and Reece, as well as a strong showing from Natalie in consoles."
The Mavericks return to the pool tomorrow for day two of the Summit League Championships. On the schedule is the 200-medley relay, 400-IM, 200-free, 100-breast, 100-back, 3-meter dive, and the 800-free relay. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals to follow at 5:30 p.m. in West Fargo, North Dakota.
