CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Omaha swimming & diving team traveled to Northern Iowa for a meet Saturday afternoon. The Panthers took a 183-114 win over the Mavericks in the pool.
Omaha finishes the regular season 3-7 overall.
"We came up against a much improved UNI team today," said head coach
Todd Samland. "We had some very good swims, and we also see some areas that we need to focus on for better racing at the conference meet in just over three weeks. We are still missing four key people and are looking forward to them being able to compete with us at conference."
The Mavericks posted three first-place finishes in Saturday's meet.
Caroline Gardner finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.08 bringing in nine points for Omaha.
Morgan Baker finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.54, while
Annie Leinart placed first with a time of 2:25.46 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Omaha picked up second place finishes in both relays and the 400-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, and the three-meter dive.
Kady Eller was the top finisher for Omaha in both diving events. Eller placed second in the three-meter dive with a score of 231.22. She finished third in the one-meter dive with a score of 221.92.
The Mavericks will return to action in mid-April at the Summit League Championships. The conference championships will be held in West Fargo, North Dakota on Thursday, April 15 through Saturday, April 17.
