Samland Adds Hartman as Assistant Coach

OMAHA, Neb. – Head swimming and diving coach Todd Samland has announced Bryce Hartman as an addition to the program's staff. Hartman joins the Mavericks as an assistant coach and will assist both the women's and men's programs.

"I'm excited to join the Omaha swimming and dive staff," said Hartman. "I'm grateful to coach Samland for including me in his vision for the newly combined program. The opportunity here is unparalleled, and I can't wait to get started with the team."

Hartman has spent the last year as an assistant coach with The Catholic University of America based in Washington, D.C. With the university, Hartman contributed to both the men's and women's NCAA Division III swimming and diving program. He also served as a recruiting and organizational development advisor to the head coach.

Also in this last year, Hartman served as a Lead Site Coach with Sea Devils Swimming ain Fairfax, West Virginia. Hartman's responsibilities spanned from managing the facility operations, serving as the main liaison between site coaching staff, team leadership, facility staff, and team parents. Hartman also oversaw athlete development by focusing on long-term improvement and team engagement.

Prior to the last year, Hartman completed a three-year stint as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Barton College. While at Barton, he assisted both the men's and women's NCAA Division II programs. He aided the athletes by creating workouts and training progressions for the program's freestyle and prime stroke groups.

While at Barton, Hartman helped three teams to Conference Carolinas team championships. He also led his athletes to 105 broken records, an All-American nod, a CSCAA Scholar All-American recognition, and a 2019 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District honoree.

Hartman got his start in coaching with the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins as a senior coach from 2013-17. He also brings with him five years of experience as the head coach at Hidenwood Recreation Association and two years as the assistant coach and volunteer coordination with Wilson Barracuda Swim Team.

As a former athlete, Hartman competed for Georgetown University. He was part of the 2013 Big East Conference Championship team and achieved all-time program top-10 times in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

"I am looking forward to adding Bryce to our coaching staff," said Samland. "He will be a huge asset in recruiting and coaching as we add our men's swimming and diving team to the mix next year. He is a great communicator. He will also add a whole new perspective with his data driven approach to coaching style. He will help bring a younger look to our program."
