Mavericks Host Crosstown Rival Creighton Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha will host crosstown rival Creighton for the Mavericks' 2020-21 home opener. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Saturday's match marks the only non-conference meeting for Omaha on this year's slate.

  • The Mavericks opened the 2020-21 slate at Kansas City last week playing only one match and postponing a second until later in the season.

Scouting the Creighton Bluejays
The Bluejays opened the 2020-21 campaign at Marquette for an early non-conference match. Creighton stole a 2-1 win over Marquette in double overtime. Jake Ronneberg netted the game winner in the 105th minute of action.
 
Creighton finished 8-7-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the BIG EAST in 2019 before the season ended with a 1-0 loss to Butler in the first round of the BIG EAST Championships on Nov. 9, 2019. Five starters and 11 letterwinners return from the 2019 squad. Creighton welcomed 10 newcomers for the 2020 season, which includes five freshmen and five transfers. Four Bluejays will also seek their debuts after redshirting in 2019.
 
 
Bluejays to Watch
  • Nathan Schnur was just named the Big East Goalkeeper of the week after Creighton's 2-1 win over Marquette. He played a complete game of 105 minutes and tallied two saves in goal.
  • Charles Auguste and Jake Ronneberg both scored a goal in the Bluejays' win at Marquette. Each of them took three shots in the match, Ronneberg led the team with two shots on goal.
  • Paul Kruse was named the Big East Preseason Co-Goalkeeper of the Year. He also earned Preseason First Team honors. Kruse made 10 starts in 2019 for the Bluejays. He tallied 42 saves, which included a career-high nine saves in Creighton's 1-1 tie against 2019 national champion Georgetown.
 
Series History
Creighton leads the all-time series 2-0-1. The teams met across town last season. Creighton took a 2-1 win over Omaha. The Bluejays outshot the Mavericks 18-8. Jeremy Pollard made four stops in goal.
