VERMILLION, S.D. – The Omaha Mavericks suffered a three-set setback (16-25, 23-25, 15-25) at South Dakota on Sunday at Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
The loss drops the Mavericks to 3-4 (2-3 Summit League) while the Coyotes move to 4-3 (3-0).
Leaders for Omaha
Sadie Limback and
Rachel Fairbanks totaled a team-high seven kills apiece.
Sami Clarkson notched fourth straight double-double of the season with 24 assists and 10 digs. The double-double is her fifth on the season.
Senior
Claire Mountjoy tallied a team-high 16 digs, moving to fifth all-time in program history with 1,588 career digs.
Leaders for South Dakota
Elizabeth Juhnke had a match-high 11 kills with 10 digs for the Coyotes. Lolo Weideman recorded four services aces and a team-high 13 digs. Madison Jurgens posted 23 assists with nine digs in the match.

The Mavericks hit .064 to South Dakota's .247. Omaha totaled 32 kills with a service ace and 44 digs. The Coyotes garnered an 11-3 advantage in blocks over the Mavericks and collected 31 kills with seven service aces and 49 digs.
Inside the First Set
Trailing 15-9, the Mavericks reeled off three straight points on a kill by
Claire Leonard, a Coyote error and blocks by
Rylee Marshall and Limback to get the Mavericks within three at 15-12. South Dakota responded with a 10-4 run to clinch the first set, 25-16.
Inside the Second Set
South Dakota jumped out to a 16-9 lead before Omaha scored five consecutive points.
Alexa Blase posted a pair of kills and Clarkson and
Anna Blaschko teamed up to reject two Coyote attacks to bring the score to 16-13, prompting a USD timeout.
Clarkson's kill got the Mavericks within two before the Coyotes expanded the lead back to 20-15. Trailing 22-21, Marshall collected an overpass and slammed home the kill to tie the match at 22. South Dakota scored three of the next four points to post the narrow 25-23 victory.
Inside the Third Set
Holding a three-point lead, South Dakota went on a 6-0 run to expand the advantage over the Mavericks to 15-6. Omaha got within eight on a kill by Limback to make it 18-10, but the Coyotes held off any attempt by the Mavericks and clinched the match with a 25-15 third-set win.
