VERMILLION, S.D. - The Mavericks take a four-set win against Oral Roberts to advance to the Summit League Championship game. Limback led the way with 21 kills and 18 digs as Buss followed right behind with 20 kills.
The Mavericks improve to 20-8 as they head into the Summit League Championship.
How It Happened
- The Mavericks started the game with a 3-2 deficit but came back to tie the game 3-3 after a kill from McKenna Ruch. An ace from Claire Mountjoy put the Mavericks up 12-8. Oral Roberts pushed their way back into the set 13-13, but after a block an and ace Omaha regained their lead 15-13. The Mavericks only allowed Oral Roberts two more points in the set and won set one 25-15.
- The second set started out with an early 3-3 tie until Sadie Limback hammered one down to put Omaha up by one. The game continued point for point but Marriah Buss was able to put the Mavericks up 10-8 after a shot to the middle of the court. The Golden Eagles went on a run and took the lead from Omaha, but the Mavericks battled back and tied it 17-17. Rylee Marshall was unpassable at the net and helped Omaha gain a 20-18 lead. Omaha battled their way to take set two 25-20.
- Omaha held the lead to start the third set after kills from Limback, McCormick and Buss. Sami Clarkson snuck one over the net for the Mavericks to go up 11-5. A Strong kill from Limback continued Omaha's lead to 15-9. Mountjoy made a save off the block to rally Omaha to an 18-13 lead. Oral Roberts was able to find their way back into the game and tied it 19-19. The set went point for point pushing into extra points, but Omaha wasn't able to pull it out. The Mavericks dropped set three 29-27.
- Set four started with another 3-3 tie until McCormick slammed it off the block to put Omaha ahead. Limback found the middle of the court and the Mavericks went up 10-8. The set continued to stay close until Buss came in with back-to-back kills to give Omaha a 15-12 lead. Omaha went on a 4-1 run and after a big block from Marshall and Buss the Mavericks had a strong 19-13 lead. Oral Roberts only snagged two more points on the set as Omaha went on to win 25-15 and took the match 3 sets to one.
Inside the Box
- Limback led the way tallying a double-double on 21 kills and 18 digs and added two blocks.
- Clarkson recorded a new career high 61 assists and added 9 digs.
- Buss notched 20 kills on a .548 hitting percentage and had four blocks.
- McCormick tallied another double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs.
- Jaiden Centeno led the defense with 20 digs while Mountjoy added 12.
