IOWA CITY, Iowa - For the sixth time this season, the Omaha Mavericks were led by
Maya Nachtigal at the NCAA Midwest Regionals Friday morning. Nachtigal,
Danielle Howard,
Paige Blackford, and
Madeline Yardley all raced today for Omaha.
"Our team is looking forward to utilizing our break to get some much needed rest and refocus come indoor track," said head coach
Cliff Cisar. "We had a lot of good things happen this fall for us and we are looking forward to using that momentum as we head into the indoor season."
Nachtigal ran a time of 23:07.45 and placed 161st in the field of 223. She improved her placement by 55 from last season's finish of 216th.
"I am very proud of Maya. She has had a remarkable season and has worked very hard to get where she is today. I know she is still wanting more and that's the part of being a competitor that is such a joy to coach. We look forward to seeing what she continues to do throughout indoor & outdoor."
Howard was Omaha's next finisher with a time of 23:57.52. She placed 200th.
Blackford and Yardley wrapped up the Omaha finishes. Blackford posted a time of 24:23.10, while Yardley ran 24:51.66 on the course.
The Mavericks have a little break before gearing up for the indoor track & field season. The winter opener is Dec. 3 at SDSU for the Holiday Invite.
