TULSA, Okla. - The Mavericks competed in the Summit League Championships Saturday morning and were led by Maya Nachtigal for the fifth consecutive race. As a whole, Omaha finished eighth in the field of nine teams.

"We didn't run to our potential today, but with every step back is an opportunity to learn and grow," said head coach Cliff Cisar. "We will do that as we approach the last meet of our year here in two weeks in Iowa City."

Nachtigal finished 31st for the Mavericks with a time of 23:04.20. It marked the fifth straight race this season with Nachtigal leading the pack.

"Maya led the team with a 31st place finish in today's championships. She had a tough stretch in the race and had to really dig in to keep her placing. She's done such a great job throughout the season so today was another testament to her determination when the going got tough."

Danielle Howard finished next for the Mavericks in 53rd place. She ran a time of 24:05.97. Paige Blackford finished two spots behind Howard with a time of 24:29.73.

Madeline Yardley placed 57th running a time of 24:39.73. Emily Robles and Joanna Topham finished right behind Yardley with times of 25:19.03 and 25:47.07, respectively.

The Mavericks return to action on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Midwest Regional Championships hosted in Iowa City, Iowa.
