COLUMBIA, Mo. - Four Mavericks posted personal records at the Gans Creek Invitational Friday morning led by
Maya Nachtigal who placed 90th. Omaha finished 15th overall as a team in their third invitational of the season.
"Today was a tough challenge for our group," said head coach
Cliff Cisar. "It was our first race at our championship distance and the course was soft from an evening of rain. While we did have a few personal bests, overall we know we have more to give. We look forward to getting another chance to show off the work we've been putting in at Bradley in two weeks."
Nacthtigal was Omaha's highest placer at 90th with a time of 23:17.2. It marks a personal record in a 6K for the sophomore. It is also the 20th best time in the program's Division I record books.
"Maya had another strong showing today while leading the team. She got herself in a good position and kept a good rhythm throughout the race."
Danielle Howard finished next for the Mavericks in 109th place with a time of 23:49.5 for a new personal best.
Emily Robles finished 10 seconds behind in 115th place. She posted a personal record of 23:55.7 and also lands on the Division I records list sitting 29th in the books.
Paige Blackford posted the final personal record of the day with a time of 24:11.9 to place 122nd for the Mavericks.
Joanna Topham finished just behind at 128th.
Also running in today's event for Omaha was
Madeline Yardley and
Zoe Christenson who placed 141st and 147th, respectively.
The Mavericks will get a week of rest before wrapping up the regular season at Bradley on Oct. 15 in the Bradley Pink Classic.
